What is Design Thinking?

ABOUT

“Design thinking is a human-centered approach to innovation that draws from the designer's toolkit to integrate the needs of people, the possibilities of technology, and the requirements for business success.”
— Tim Brown, CEO of IDEO

Design Thinking is a methodology used by designers to solve complex problems, and find desirable solutions for clients. A design mindset is not problem-focused, it’s solution focused and action oriented towards creating a preferred future. Design Thinking draws upon logic, imagination, intuition, and systemic reasoning, to explore possibilities of what could be—and to create desired outcomes that benefit the end user (the customer).

To Winnie, it is also an approach and attitude which she applies to building both her work and her life.

Then...what is Design Thinking through Art?

Apart from using the methodology to design her Expressive Arts projects, Winnie also shares a series of experiments designed to inspire people to understand and practice Design Thinking more effectively through art.

From working in a bank to working with a paintbrush, Winnie continues to advocate for Design Thinking not only in how she works, but also how she lives her life. She built her second artist career with these innovative principles, as one of her life projects. She also initiates ‘Design Thinking through Art’, combining her two passion together, to promote using creative way in solving wicked problems.
